Everything You Should Know About Tooth Whitening
Home      Tooth Whitening Trays

 1.     Make sure that you have had your oral exam from the dentist.

Over the counter trays are made for the masses. They don't fit everyone the same.
 2.     Check the tray for proper fit. Trim with scissors if necessary.

3. Don't over fill the tray. You don't need to fill it up. Place
the tooth whitening gel against the front of the tray
where your front teeth will be and not on the bottom of the
tray. You will want the tooth whitening gel to be against
the front of your teeth.

4. Follow the manufacturers instructions exactly.

5. Use your finger to wipe excess from the top of the tray after
application. Make sure the top of your teeth are covered with
the gel. You don't want a stripe across the top of your smile
just because the tray did not fit quite right.

6. Exposed root and dental work will not whiten.

7. It is normal to have some tooth sensitivity with tooth
whitening procedures. You may have to space out your tooth whitening
until your teeth get used to the procedure.

8. Stock trays are thicker and are sometimes uncomfortable.
The boil and bite trays work the best. These are the ones
you have to heat up and form around your teeth for the best
fit. It is important to use equal pressure across the whole
tray for the best fit across your teeth.

9. If you have any type of jaw disorder then you should not use
trays except as your doctor recommends.
